Discipleship Bands

"A discipleship band is a group of three to five people who read together, pray together, and meet together to become the love of God for one another and the world."

At Nashville Methodist Church, we believe strongly in the power of small group discipleship. One of the prominent elements of John Wesley's ministry was his focus on discipleship. Small group Discipleship Bands built relationships, spread the love of Christ, and grew the church.

Our church has been on a mission to revive this practice; we have several Discipleship Bands that meet weekly within our church. If you would like to learn more, please download the free Discipleship Bands-A Practical Field Guide PDF from Seedbed.
The Field Guide PDF will give you clear direction on what a Discipleship Band should look like. We encourage you to keep these guidelines in mind as you form your group and begin meeting. Each group will adjust their meeting to what works best for them. A few of the defining characteristics of a "Band" that need to be upheld:
  • Same gender
  • Only 3-5 people per group
  • Meeting together on a consistent schedule
  • No gossiping
